Central Asia’s Nuclear Power in the Global Energy Transition
Just some days ago Kazakhstan announced the location of its second nuclear power plant. Central Asia’s energy debate is entering a new phase. Over the past decade, the region is increasingly committed to renewables deployment, grid modernization, and decarbonization. At the same time, structural constraints, such as rising electricity demand, aging infrastructure, seasonal supply imbalances, and underinvestment in new gas field development, have exposed vulnerabilities in national energy systems.
